Press Release:

13th Annual  --  Winter Swap

Saturday, November 5th, 2011  --  Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

The Lookout Pass and Silver Mountain volunteer ski patrols are hosting the 13th annual Winter Swap at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 5th, from 9 AM to 3 PM.  Items for sale will include new and used skiing equipment, snowboarding gear, accessories, as well as all types of winter clothing.  This is an excellent time to pick-up equipment or clothing that you need for the upcoming season or clear out the closets of stuff that you or the kids have outgrown.  Admission fee is $5 per person; children, 12 years and under, are free with a paying adult.  Each paid admission comes with a raffle entry for our “Grand Prize Drawings” for a Season Ski or Board Pass from Lookout Ski Area and Silver Mountain.

Please bring Items to sell to the fairgrounds on Friday, November 4th from 3 PM to 8 PM.  All items must be clean and in good condition.  Merchandise is accepted on consignment only, with 20% of the selling price withheld at the time of the sale.  The Winter Swap is making tags and registration forms available to the public prior to the swap at the Ski Shack in Hayden beginning Monday, October 24th.  This will allow pre-tagging of items by the customer before the swap and will speed up the public check-in on Friday at the fairgrounds.  Winter Swap will only take “shaped” alpine/downhill skis on consignment as the older straight skis no longer sell.  Consignees Must Pick up Checks and Unsold Merchandise at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds from 9 AM to Noon on Sunday November 6th.

In addition to the new and used winter sports gear, there will be a Vendor Fair Building.  Several of the ski areas in the region will be present, selling passes and taking photos for season passes, as well as talking about their improvements for the coming season.  Numerous other booths will have displays of new snow gear from some of the shops in the area, and other items of interest to winter sports enthusiasts.

Lookout Pass and Silver Mountain Volunteer Ski Patrols are made up of members primarily from Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Spokane and the Silver Valley.  Most volunteer patrollers donate an average of one day a week of their time throughout the ski season plus numerous training days to provide first aid on the mountain.  Our volunteer ski patrols include people from all types of professions.  Visit our website at http://www.winterswap.org for links and consider joining one of our teams!

Proceeds from the Winter Swap will be used primarily for patroller training to improve our rescue and first aid capabilities on the mountain.  For more information including a map to the fairgrounds, frequently asked swap questions and other links, visit our website at http://www.winterswap.org, or email admin@winterswap.org
